    Mosquito Control Product

    Mosquitoes are forever going to be on everyone's top list of nuisances. It doesn't matter if they are just hovering above our heads, but we'd rather not have them anywhere near us. Even if only a few species are actually disease-carrying and males restrict their diets to plant juices, the females, who seem to make up most of the population, always succeed in finding a way to give us a sting or two.

    The market is being flooded with new mosquito control products every day. The consumers have invested a lot of money on mosquito traps, zappers, swatters, repellers, sprays, and so much more. These mosquito control products may work differently from one another but they share one thing in common -- they all claim to be the answer to the growing problem of mosquito riddance.

    One popular mosquito control product is the electronic repeller. There are actually several kinds of electronic repellers but the most common one used for mosquitoes are those hand-held gadgets that emit sounds with high frequency which are believed to be very effective in driving away mosquitoes. The manufacturers of these mosquito control products use different sounds to repel mosquitoes. Some devices imitate the wing beat sounds made by male mosquitoes to get rid of the females who have been mated and do not wish to be mated again. There are other mosquito control products that emit the sound made by the dragonfly. This is supposed to be very efficient in driving mosquitoes away because the dragonfly is known to be a mosquito-eater. However, scientific studies refute the claims of these types of mosquito control products. Females who have been mated already do not repel from further mating, and mosquitoes in general, do not flee from dragonflies.

    Bug zappers are another well-known mosquito control products that abound the market. They are those devices that kill mosquitoes through electric current. Most types of the bug zappers use ultraviolet rays to attract mosquitoes into electrified grids or screens. Those who use these mosquito control products would hear "pops" or "sizzle" sounds which would mean that insect have come in contact with the grids or screens. There have been studies conducted saying that most of the popping and sizzling sounds are mostly caused by either moths or beetles and mosquitoes generally make up a small percentage of the catch. The sounds made by the bug zappers are proof enough for owners that their money is well-invested.

    The world really hasn't come up with any fast-acting and long-lasting solution for the mosquito problem. And unless there is a mosquito control product that can drive mosquitoes to extinction, all we can do for now is to eradicate any still water to keep mosquitoes from growing their numbers.
