A New Festive Tradition: Christmas Wind Chimes

Often when individuals think about wind chimes they think about the sounds of the chimes during a breezy summer or spring evening. However, why not think of another time of year to display and enjoy the musical tones of a wind chime. This time of the year is during the festive Christmas season.

A Christmas wind chime can be added to the festive decorations involved with this special time of year. Therefore, families could consider the purchase of a specific Christmas wind chime or, as part of a new tradition, make their own Christmas wind chime.

    Various Christmas Wind Chimes

There are various Christmas wind chimes that are available to the consumer. These Christmas wind chimes can be purchased in specialty stores or can be obtained through various Internet sites. Examples of Christmas wind chimes include the use of angels, snowmen, and other various icons associated with the Christmas season.

One popular Christmas wind chime is the Santa wind chime. This particular wind chime would have Santa Claus as its main ornamental feature. Dangling from old St. Nick would be the eight reindeer and Rudolph, the red nose reindeer, would be the striker element of the wind chime.

Ideas For Home Made Christmas Wind Chime

Another possibility of a Christmas wind chime is the creation of a homemade wind chime. Embracing this idea could provide a number of advantages.

The first advantage of creating a homemade Christmas wind chime is the quality family time that will be spent together during the holidays. Adding to this idea would be the opportunity for a member of the family to decide which ornamental features they would choose to make the Christmas wind chime. In addition, that role and responsibility would change from year to year. Another advantage of creating a homemade Christmas wind chime is the beginning of a new family tradition.

There are a number of materials that could be used to make that first family Christmas wind chime. For example the family could gather pine cones together, decorate the pine cones with various glittering material and then string the pine cones together in a wind chime like fashion. Or, if replacing old Christmas ornaments, why not use the replaced ornaments as the chimes for your Christmas wind chime. These old ornaments could be crafts made by the children in grade school or non-breakable ornaments that still have sentimental value.

These crafted Christmas wind chimes could then be placed on the Christmas tree or other appropriate part of the home.
