Try the different types of pipes like aluminum, copper, steel or brash. These types of pipes usually give out different types of sound so play close attention. Also, the size of the pipes would affect the sound that they produce. Bigger pipes tend to give out deeper sounds and smaller pipes usually give out a high note sound. In help you choose the right pipes for your chimes, listen carefully to the sound that the pipes produce when you ping it with your finger. Repeat this process several times until you found the right type of metal pipes.

Once you have found the right type of pipes for your wind chimes, buy at least three meters of pipes. Cut the pipes into different sizes beginning with the longer pipe. For the succeeding pipes, subtract at about ? to 1 inch in length to create different sounds. Note that you need to create a harmonious sound with your pipes so make sure that you cut your pipes properly.

For your clapper, you can use just about anything to serve as clapper for your wind chimes. If you want to produce some mellow sounds, you can use wood or rubber as clapper. On the hand, if you want to produce a louder and sharper sound, you can use harder materials as clapper such as metals and steels.
